+ I have a special event/vacation coming up. When should I book my appointment?
Book 24-48 hours before, if possible. We’ll customise the colour as dark or as light as you need based on your preferences and your event or special occasion. We will also teach you how to extend the life of the colour with some easy to follow after-care tips to make sure you get the most out of your tan! + I would like to book another session but I still have colour leftover from my last session. Does that matter?
YES. Scrub ALL colour off from previous spray tans or sunless tanners for best results. Take a hot shower or bath and massage damp skin with a heavy oil (like coconut oil or baby oil) to remove excess colour. Towel dry afterwards for those stubborn areas. It works like a charm! Depending on how much colour is left, more than one shower/bath may be necessary to completely remove all remnants of the leftover colour.

If you suffer from sensitive skin, just let us know. We’ll discuss your particular concerns and will happily find a solution that works for you. No, our solution will not usually cause break outs or clog pores. However, every skin type and situation is different. If you’re concerned about spraying the face, no worries! Just let us know and we’ll be happy to spray the body only. + I’ve had a reaction to a spray tan/sunless tanner in the past. Will I have the same reaction with a GOLD COAST TANS tan?
Even the most sensitive types and those that have suffered from reactions from other spray tans or sunless tanning products have rarely reacted to our solution. Part of the reason is the purity of our products and the other part is we recommend a complimentary patch test. If for any reason you’ve reacted to other sunless products/services, just give us a call! + Why is the Prep Solution good for me to add before my bronzing session?
Most importantly, it will balance the skin’s ph. It will go to work to rid the skin of daily body oils, perfumes and hidden dry skin, resulting in a perfect tan (trust us, it REALLY works!). Plus, it only takes a couple minutes and can be added last-minute to your service, just let us know! + Is spray tanning at GOLD COAST TANS safe for pregnant women?
Yes! However, we recommend each mum-to-be consult with their physician first. If the doctor needs to see an ingredient list, just shoot us an email and we’d be happy to help. Also, we have ventilation in every room so not only are our clients not breathing the solution, our technicians aren’t either. + I’m breastfeeding. Can I still get a spray tan at GOLD COAST TANS?
Yes! Just let us know when you book your appointment or when you arrive. You are welcome to wear a bra or swimsuit top that covers any areas that you don’t want your child coming in contact with OR we can provide a damp cloth to immediately remove solution on the breasts if you need to be sprayed topless. Will tanning solution stain my clothes?
We suggest loose dark coloured cotton fabrics as the bronzer will wash out easily from cotton. Females should go braless if possible immediately after the spray to avoid the bra rubbing against the skin and removing the tan.
We recommend purchasing a KAAFTAN Kaftan (available in store) to wear after your spray tan
Can I leave my tan on longer than 2 hours?
The best effect is achieved for express tans after 2 hours and showering.
However your tan can be left on longer, but we recommend showering between 6-8 hours for classic tan solutions unless advised by your spray tan technician.
During my shower I notice my 'tan' washing away is this normal?
Do I have to remove all my clothes for my tan application?
Absolutely not, you should feel comfortable and can choose to wear your bathers, underwear, G-string or you can go naked if you prefer.
Our staff will supply you with a disposable hair net and g string at your appointment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
It is recommended that you wear loose and comfortable dark clothing to and from your spray tan appointment. Tan Solution in most cases will not stain clothing and any slight rub off should come out in the wash, however some staining may occur on some light coloured leather, acrylic or other sensitive fabrics.
Most spray tans contain an instant cosmetic bronzer that gives you a colour guide and instant color when you are first sprayed. These instant cosmetic bronzers will wash away after your first shower and have no impact on the end result for your tan. It’s not the amount of cosmetic bronzers that make the individual solutions darker from one another, it’s the amount of DHA in the solution that creates varying results.
How long will my tan last?
Most people can expect their tan to last 5- 7 days depending on your skin type and preparation.
Some may even keep their tan for up to 10 days. Regular moisturising and using our Tan HQ Tan Extending lotion will extend your tans life greatly.

Do I still need to wear sunscreen?
Yes you do. Our tan solutions do not provide any useful protection against harmful uv rays. We recommend the use of an approved SPF 30+ sunscreen 20 minutes prior to any sun exposure.
Can pregnant women still use our solutions?
Though our tans use organic, natural and hypo allergenic ingredients we still adopt the point of referring to your GP before the the use of any spray tan during pregnancy.
Is our tan safe to use?
Can I wear makeup straight after my tan application?
Wearing make- up is fine after your tan develops however, clients should not wash their face for the first 2 hours after your tan application as water stops the development process.
Make-up applied before the tanning session will act as a barrier so it is likely that the tan on your face will be slightly lighter than on the rest of your body.
How do I extend the life of my spray tan?
Your spray tan can be extended through the use of our retail range including our pH body wash and tan extending lotion available from stockists.
Please Note: You should avoid excessive exposure to water and any form of exfoliation during the life of your spray tan.
Our combination of organic,natural and hypo allergenic ingredients along with highly purified water (aqua) and the natural sugar derived cosmetic tanning agent DHA produce a truly remarkable tanning result.
How do I know which strength to choose?
The best way to find out what percentage of DHA works for you is to talk with your spray tan artist ahead of the actual application. Just like you do with a hairstylist ahead of a new cut or colour, you should converse with your spray tan artist to ensure you're both on the same page when it comes to your desired level of tan. Aside from having a conversation with the spray tan artist, another way to decipher which DHA percentage is best for you is through good old trial-and-error.
What should I do after my tan is applied?
Your tan will start to develop immediately upon application.
For the best possible results you should avoid the following within the first 24 hrs after your tan has been rinsed off.
